Terms of Use and Consumer Information

Provider: PrivateByte, individual developer. Version 1.0. Effective date: June 21, 2026.

Publication note: final legal operator name, postal address, governing-law wording, and consumer-jurisdiction wording still need legal review before public hosting where required by law.

1. Provider and scope

These Terms apply to PrivateByte apps, including AndMac, supplied by an individual developer publishing under the PrivateByte name.

Contact: your@privatebyte.app

Purchase, download, refunds, and store-account functions may be handled by the selected app store or direct sales channel. Mandatory consumer rights and mandatory store conditions remain unaffected.

2. Product philosophy

PrivateByte apps are intended to be local-first tools. Data should stay on the user's device unless the user chooses to export it, send it, or sync it using iCloud or storage they control.

3. Purchase model

Paid PrivateByte apps are intended as one-time purchases where possible. There are no recurring subscription charges unless an app listing expressly says otherwise.

Pay once, then receive updates and support for as long as the app is supported and actively developed. This does not promise support for every future operating system, every future device, or perpetual development of new features.

4. App descriptions

AndMac

AndMac is a local macOS app for USB file transfer between Android MTP devices and Mac folders selected by the user.

5. Licence

Subject to payment and these Terms, the user receives a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the app on devices permitted by the applicable app-store rules.

The user may not redistribute or resell copies of the app, make the app publicly available, remove proprietary notices, use the app to infringe another person's rights, bypass technical protection measures, or create an unauthorised competing copy, except where mandatory law permits.

6. App-specific system requirements

7. User responsibility

AndMac

AndMac performs file operations chosen by the user. Users are responsible for selecting the correct source and destination, keeping backup copies of important files, protecting their devices, and checking transferred files where loss would matter.

Delete actions on Android are permanent and should be used carefully.

8. Limitations

AndMac

AndMac is not intended for iPhone or iPad transfer, cloud sync, wireless transfer, forensic extraction, backup replacement, emergency use, or safety-critical workflows.

9. Updates

Updates required by applicable law to maintain contractual conformity and security are provided through the applicable store for the legally relevant period. These Terms do not promise permanent compatibility with every future device, every future operating-system version, unlimited lifetime support, or perpetual development of new features.

10. Statutory rights

The user has statutory rights where an app is defective or fails to conform to the contract. Depending on applicable conditions, these may include bringing the app into conformity, price reduction, termination, damages, or reimbursement of expenses. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory statutory consumer rights.

11. Liability

PrivateByte is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, mandatory product-liability law, and any express guarantee given.

For slight negligence, liability may be limited to breach of essential contractual obligations and foreseeable typical damage, to the extent legally permitted. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

12. Contact

Support and defect reports can be sent to your@privatebyte.app.

13. Governing law

Governing law and consumer jurisdiction wording must be completed for the selected distribution countries before publication.
